TEACHING AND ADVISING
- Taught studio art courses at the college level including: Three Dimensional Design,
Two Dimensional Design, Art Appreciation, Metalsmithing and Jewelry Making and Art
for Elementary Education (Art Methods)
- Taught Art for Elementary Education as a lecture / studio combination class with over
135 students enrolled each semester. Responsibilities included developing the
curriculum, designing studio projects, supervising and training graduate students,
downloading images, and organizing Power Point presentations
- During advising appointments, assisted students with course selection, graduation
requirements, long range planning, and other topics as their needs dictated
- Supervised, instructed and mentored numerous Kansas State University public
relations interns and monitored their progress
ADMINISTRATIVE AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Served on several committees within the Art Department including Course & Curriculum
Committee, Art Recognition Banquet Committee (Chair), Open House Committee
(Chair), and regularly participated in departmental staff meetings
- Gained public speaking experience through group presentations, radio and television
interviews and introducing lecturers and performers
- Wrote grants and worked in cooperation with other agencies in developing grant
proposals
- Developed and promoted successful new programs, classes, and activities
- Organized visual arts exhibitions and a wide variety of performing arts activities as
coordinator of publicity, installation and ticket sales
- Arranged, coordinated and conducted educational visitations and tours of the facilities
- Organized numerous receptions and fund raising events, many for over 200 people,
which involved arranging the location, refreshments, invitations, publicity, and
accessibility
- Coordinated and developed youth through adult classes; recruited and trained a
diverse group of volunteers; expanded the volunteer base of an active arts center by
over 15% in a one year period
